At the Bertram-Hatteras Shootout this April 27-May 1, tradition is king! The rivalry between the two legendary sport-fish manufacturers is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In what has long been considered a first class event, attendees expect a big party, but even bigger competition. Honored boat owners, captains, and anglers will be coming from all over to experience non-stop fishing action and high class living.
The Shootout is rooted in long-standing traditions, and this year will be no different as Hatteras yachts are pitted against Bertram yachts. Individual prizes will be presented, along with an overall team championship between Bertram and Hatteras. From May 12 -15, the "Boy Scout Bahamas Open," as the name implies, is open to all anglers on boats in the area. This year the Resort is operating the first leg of the Bermuda Triangle Series (BTS) in Abaco, Bahamas. The Bermuda Triangle Series travels to three hot fishing destinations (Bahamas, Bermuda and Virgin Islands), but each leg is an "Open" meaning it stands on its own to allow anglers in the area to compete with anglers in the series. Known as the Boy Scout Bahamas Open this tournament is sure to offer three great days of fishing. Anglers choose their line test - choices are 50, 80, or 130 lb. and naturally there is a proportional point spread. The tournament is operated at a "Modified Release" format, meaning competitors can boat a large fish, but it won't count for tournament "points" unless it weighs enough to become a potential IGFA World Record.
