Now members of the IGFA (International Game Fish Association) can participate in the “10 Pound Bonefish Club” here and Abaco Beach Resort will provide certified scales for the angler's use at no additional fee. Any Member who documents their catch and submits an application will receive a certificate and embroidered bonefish jacket emblem from IGFA. The angler's name and details of their catch will be listed in the IGFA World Record Game Fishes book under the Special Clubs section along with a press release on the IGFA website and the local newspaper.
Bonefishing takes place in the flats where guides slowly pole small flat-bottomed boats for anglers, or the truly dedicated quietly stalk these elusive fish by wading through knee-deep water. These quicksilver fighters, weighing up to 15 pounds inspire both fly fisherman and spin casters alike with their power and speed. Unpredictable and wily, the bonefish are often found in schools of 100 or more, making for exciting bursts of action.
